The Healing Power of Art

 This unique program will feature a panel of professionals who will talk about how art can be used to heal.

Panelists will include:
Diane Lansing: Ms. Lansing holds a Masters in Expressive Therapy, a discipline where a variety of avenues including art, music, dance and poetry are used in psychotherapy.

Sandra Fioramonti-Sabene (Liverpool Art Center): Meditative Painting and Spiritual Healing

Claire Arezina, Music Therapist at Golisano Children's Hospital

Maria Fazzini, Art Therapist at Golisono Children's Hospital

Art supplies will be collected at this program and throughout the month of March. Supplies will be donated to Golisano Children's Hospital. The hospital wish list includes: colored pencils, acrylic paints, art pads and canvases, crayons, paint brushes, and pastels. Crayola brand is preferred due to the nontoxicity of their products.

This program is being offered in conjunction with CNY Reads One Book 2016 selection "the Double Bind" by Chris Bohjalian. (

The book is about a young woman named Laurel who works at a homeless shelter. When one of her clients dies, they find in his possession a large collection of photographs, presumably taken by the homeless man.
