 Professor Tara Ross will present a program focused on the efforts by African Americans to obtain full civil rights from the pivotal period of 1940-1955 to the present. Professor Ross will seek to dispel the myths and clear away the cloud of romanticism that surrounds the Movement. In addition, the program will look at the strategies utilized by those advocating for and opposing the movement for civil rights then and now, including the role of black conservatives.
