Due to the impending storm, the program tonite has been postponed until January 8 because the speaker would have been driving in from Auburn.

William Seward was not only the first American Secretary of State to go abroad while holding that office, he was one of the first world travelers. During his numerous sojourns abroad throughout his life, Seward developed many of the ideas that would define his political legacy. His travels shaped his thinking on immigration, slavery, and expansion, among other subjects. In a stream of newspaper articles and ultimately a best-selling book, Seward described everything he encountered in vivid detail. Learn more about what he saw in this program, delivered by Dr. Jeffrey Ludwig, the Director of Education at the Seward House Museum in Auburn, NY.
