Pat Doherty will briefly talk about the basics of the ukulele instrument and give a short presentation on the history of the ukulele. She will then lead a interactive demonstration where participants will learn the different role each hand plays, different strums with exemplary songs, and how to work on a song. Finally, she will provide information on how to organize your personal song list, resources available for instruction, community ukulele groups & internet tutorials. Bring your own ukulele!
Pat Doherty studied at the Eastman School of Music, Cal State University of Northridge and with teachers such as Eugene List, Brooks Smith, Jakob Gimpel and Ivan Davis. She believes that music is a basic need for all of us. Pat has led the Ukulele for Beginners program at the library for five years.
Participants should be 12+.
