Origins of Jazz: The Jazz Piano with Andrew Carroll Trio

Event Type: Music
Date: 11/17/2019
Start Time: 2:00 PM
End Time: 4:00 PM
Description:
With its 88 black-and-white keys, the piano is a unique and varied instrument. It can play melody, harmony and bass, making it capable of functioning as both an accompanying as well as a lead instrument. And of course, it is a magnificent solo instrument. As jazz piano music developed, the rhythm possibilities improved enormously, making this instrument sound like a full orchestra. Andrew’s debut album, Alliterations, features bassist Michael Pope and drummer Jonathan Barber in a 13-track combination of jazz standards and original compositions. His Liverpool audience will hear some of those originals as well as modern jazz compositions by Chick Corea.
