Your New Pet is... a Houseplant!

Event Type: Adult Programs
Date: 1/17/2019
Start Time: 7:00 PM
End Time: 8:30 PM
The day-to-day care for a traditional pet is sometimes challenging in this busy world and can be expensive! So why not get a nontraditional pet...a houseplant? Plants don't bark, growl or hiss, there are no visits to the vet, they don't shed, and they don't have to be cleaned up after. Nurturing a plant is easy and it can be fun! Get a cute watering can, create your own planter, and choose a plant (or plants) that suits your personality. Plants can be acrobats, growing up a trellis or hanging down from a basket. You can train a plant such as a trailing plant, or for a bit of whimsey create a topiary. In addition to all this, plants help cleanse the air, filtering indoor pollutants and are an essential part of our planetís ecosystem. Loving and caring for plants makes you a responsible citizen of the planet.

Tim and Lisa Ballantyne will talk about fabulous indoor plants that can enrich your life such as ferns, indoor trees, succulents, and flowering varieties.
