June: The Pursuit of Happyness*
Written by Chris Gardner and adapted for screen in 2006
The film is based on the true story of Christopher Gardner, who struggled with his young son while working as an unpaid intern at a prestigious stock brokerage, and became a millionaire. The film deals with the American Dream from a particular perspective, focusing, as the title implies, on the constitutional right to "pursue" happiness, rather than the right to be happy.
*This program is a "American Creed: Community Conversations" program which invites audiences to consider what America's ideals and identity ought to be. American Creed: Community Conversations is a project of Citizen Film in partnership with the American Library Association and the National Writing Project, with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
This event will be held at Baldwinsville Public Library located at 33 E Genesee St, Baldwinsville, NY 13027.
