 The barrier islands are ribbons of sand created by rising sea level. Geologist Ed Ponto presents a program featuring the undeveloped North Carolina National Seashore area including Cape Lookout National Seashore. He will discuss how the islands formed, the 4 zones found on the islands and the dangers of barrier island development. The government does not permit development because of their vulnerability.
