Accordingly, there are more than 30 types of muscular dystrophy as they differ based on genetics, the muscle affected, age of first symptom, progression of disease, and more. Muscular Dystrophy can affect the heart and breathing capacity. There has been tremendous progress in research with treatment available for few forms and high hopes for future treatments.
