Up your Web Literacy IQ with fun, interactive learning sessions. Participant learners will attain a basic understanding of the web and web technologies, while gaining confidence on how to explore the web, how to build the web, and how to connect on the web. Activities ideal for adults and critical thinking high school students. Attend all 4 sessions and receive a FREE LPL travel pouch.
Make Friends with Your Browser (10:00 AM) - Learners will actively reflect on tools used to navigate a website. Learners will discuss the difference between a web browser and search engine, navigate a website, and become familiar with web browser tools.
Search Party (11:30 AM) - Learners will practice writing good search queries, and explore the concepts of indexing, linking, metadata, and the concept of algorithms will be introduced.
Web Detective (10:00 AM)- How do you know if a source is trustworthy? Through discussion and exploration, learners will delve into spotting misinformation and disinformation.
Design on the Web (11:30 AM)- Learners explore how visual and experience design works on the web, and how web designers use their skills to encourage certain behaviors.
